About The Meals on Wheels NEW Gift Certificate Program

Perhaps you have an aging family member or a friend that you know who wants to stay independent and could use some help doing so, but you just haven’t found the right place to start. Maybe starting the conversation about using services to help someone you love stay in their own home seems like a daunting task.

This year, Meals on Wheels is excited to offer a new program for family and friends just like you. We’ve launched a gift certificate program that will allow you to purchase a week, two weeks or a month’s worth of meals for that person in your life who could use some help maintaining independence. And this way, it allows them to do it on their own time.

Meals on Wheels serves a wide variety of clients, many of them elderly, but also those dealing with the recovery of an injury or illness. It can also be extremely helpful for people who have mobility challenges, especially as winter approaches and driving to the store becomes more dangerous.

If you’re concerned about meeting a medically specific diet, chances are Meals on Wheels can accommodate that. We have over 10 different specific diets including low-sodium, diabetic and gluten free.

With our daily delivery, a hot meal is delivered around noon by a volunteer, right to the recipient’s door. Because we don’t leave the meals behind when someone doesn’t answer the door, there is an automatic safety check that’s generated and you will know that even if you can’t be there, someone is looking in on your loved one. There is also a weekly menu that our recipients can choose and they simply just reheat those freshly prepared meals on their own time, which can be a good option for more active recipients.

Meals on Wheels gift certificates can be purchased and gifted to any older adult or anyone dealing with a disability or medical issue that makes preparing meals difficult. There isn’t a qualification process, and the phone call to enroll takes about 5 minutes.

Your loved one can call when they’re ready, talk to a real person and get all of their questions answered. There is no minimum number of meals to sign up for. We simply need to know if there are any dietary requirements we need to meet, what the delivery instructions are and when they’d like to get started.

Let Meals on Wheels help you start the conversation about staying healthy and safe this winter.
